The Good, The Bad, and The Teammates We Became (Cameron Version)

This post isn’t all sunshine and smiles. It’s about mistakes, tough moments, and things we don’t always talk about — but it’s also about growth, teamwork, and second chances.
The best things — memories, bonds, relationships, and important lessons — often come from moments of hardship.
🌧️The Good We’ll Remember
We’ll remember the small room, because we had to figure out how to arrange our luggage just to make space to sleep.
We’ll remember the cold grass, not just because it was freezing, but because we trained on it together, barefoot and full of laughter.
We’ll remember who encouraged us from the audience seats when we forgot our lines.
We’ll remember those who let go of ego just to make things work.
We’ll remember the field relay — not for the race itself, but for the chaos of passing a chair, 4kg medicine ball or a mop and a pail, and how we somehow made it work.
We’ll remember the ones who stood up for us and stuck around through thick and thin.
We’ll remember the teammate who sprained her ankle to just to alert everyone that a car was coming from behind.
We’ll remember the icy air in our noses and the aching calves on our third morning run, when it hurt so badly we questioned why we even came.
We’ll remember the teammates we couldn’t get along with, who still showed up and tried their best during game night, just to earn points for the team.
We’ll remember being surprised at how much better our assignments became, simply because everyone started trying a little harder.
We’ll remember the pain in our legs as we climbed stairs we swore we couldn’t finish, just to improve.
We’ll remember the song we couldn’t stand at first, but now it’s stuck in our heads, because it reminds us of everything we went through together.
But really — is life always full of good memories, good people and fantastic moments?
No. Even the camp wasn’t all sunshine and deep quotes.

Hardship, long stays, and fatigue reveal the true colours of a person. Because when we’re pushed to our limits, the masks come off.
🔍 The Tougher Side
We’ll remember the teammate who ditched us for more sleep.
We’ll remember the one who tried to skip every “difficult” task.
We’ll remember the one who kept complaining, and we just got so annoyed.
We’ll remember the one who didn’t smile back when we smiled at them.
We’ll remember the ones who talked behind our backs — because let’s face it, drama exists anywhere.
We’ll remember those who took advantage of others, thinking no one noticed.
We’ll remember the unfair treatment that some of our teammates received — and worse, We’ll remember those who did nothing when they saw it happening.
Sometimes people don’t know how much their words or silence can hurt. Sometimes people don’t know how much their action or non-action can hurt too.
⚖️ The Balance - But that’s life. There are always two sides.
When one teammate ditched us for sleep, another stepped up and stayed with us.
When someone skipped the difficult task, we learned to manage, to adapt, and to grow stronger.
When someone kept complaining or turned toxic, we learned to walk away and find those who share the same values.
Not everyone will be your person — and that’s okay.
Because just as hardship reveals cracks, it also reveals character.
For every letdown, there was someone who quietly stepped up.
For every moment that felt unfair, someone else still chose kindness.
But remember: Everyone’s still learning. People mess up. People grow. People change.
Give second chances. Give them space to grow.
Be the one who steps forward to make things right. Be the one who greets first, helps first, leads first. Sometimes, people aren’t as bad as we think — they’re just figuring things out too.
Even if someone let you down, it doesn’t mean they won’t show up better next time.
And even if we need to walk away for a while, that doesn’t erase the fact that they’re still our teammate — now or in the future. We still have to work together, because we’ve got a bigger picture to paint.
And that picture? It’s never complete without every single shade — the bright ones, the messy ones, the dark ones too.
💪 Moving Forward
This camp had it all: laughter, joy… and regrets. Real regrets — the kind that stick.
Because sometimes, we only get one chance — and we mess it up.
We say the wrong thing.
We miss the moment.
We hold back when we should’ve stepped forward.
And maybe we don’t get to fix every mistake. But that’s what regret does — it reminds us to do better while we still can.
No one regrets the lack of sleep. Or eating too much rice. Or doing extra work for the team. No one regrets pushing through Arabella. No one regrets waking up for the morning run.
But we do regret:
Saying things we shouldn’t, or not saying what we should have.
Letting teammates down.
Skipping the hard parts.
Blaming others.
Choosing comfort over effort.
Not giving more when we had the chance.
Judging too quickly.
We can’t turn back time.
But it’s not the end of the story.
It’s not the end of my story.
I can still step up.
I can still make things right.
And next time I’m in a team, I’ll show up better — for them, and for myself.
This is why we, as coaches, insisted on holding this camp — not just to improve fitness or technique, but to create a space where real lessons could happen. A space where you’d be tested, where you’d face discomfort, where you’d see who you are — and who you could become. Because in the end, it’s not just about how fast you run or how well you perform. It’s about the kind of teammate, the kind of person, you choose to be — even when no one’s watching.
P/S: This was a heavy post — and maybe it sat a little heavy in your heart too.
So here’s a video to make you smile: our very serious Strange Object Relay™ 😆
(Yes, that’s a chair. Yes, someone passed a mop.)
