An Inclusive Athletics Community for All Levels

Welcome to Kawan Athletics, a friendly club for runners of all abilities, from serious athletes to to those who want to keep fit and healthy. Since 2018, we've grown from two to a family of over hundred members. Dedicated to fostering young runners' talents, we offer programs that develop running and essential life skills like teamwork, empathy, self-control, and leadership, all within the framework of strong sportsmanship.

For master athletes aged 35 and above, we provide specialised training to help reignite past passions or pursue new goals. Our club participates in various athletics competitions, from inter-district to national levels. We cater to all abilities, creating a supportive environment for personal fitness and competitive goals, with access to year-round track and field events.

​Kawan Athletics values teamwork and human connection by helping our members (Kawan) to build positive relationships with those around them. We aim to shape our Kawans' overall well-being and we all (including parents, for members under 18) have a role to play. We believe in the concept of "1 + 1 = 3" -  the ultimate strength of each member is the team itself. Together we can create more, together we can go further.

We are more than just a running club, we are a family that runs hard and runs strong together to achieve our goals. To foster a greater teamwork, we also hold internal social events such as annual outing, training camp, picnic day & etc throughout the year and we are also looking forward to volunteering to a shelter in near future. 


Winning isn't just about crossing the finish line first in athletics; it's about the journey and growth along the way. The real question is what you've gained from the experience. Did you learn and grow? Push your limits? Enjoy the run and make lasting friendships? Improve as a person? Whatever your reason or goal for running, if you've moved even an inch closer to it with effort and dedication, then you're already winning at life. The People Who Make Us Amazing

Coach KJ

Coach KJ graduated with a Master of Sport Science in Education, and now pursuing his PhD in Performance Analysis (Sport Science) at University Putra Malaysia. Coach KJ still competes competitively in athletics sport with the aim to represent Malaysia in the Sea Games again after his winning of a bronze medal in the Sea Games 2013. He was also the semi-finalist at the World University Game at Taipei in 2017 and Italy in 2019. His training aims to improve the physical strength and movement of the athletes which helps them to unleash their hidden athletic potential in sport through this sport.

COACH KJ (Head Coach)

Coach KL is a certified coach under USA Track and Field. She has more than 15 years of experience in this sport and was a three times ASEAN University Games qualifier in 2012, 2014 & 2016. Along the way, she has assisted some coaches in coaching younger kids and teenagers. Coach KL is passionate about kids' athletics and she looks out for the best interest of each of the individual athletes while encouraging engagement and active participation in the training sessions. Her training focuses on body coordination that helps athletes to build a solid base by improving their fundamental and  motor development skills.

Coach Elena


Coach Elena was the 2017 Sea Games Gold Medalist in 10,000m race-walking and also a three times double Sukma Gold Medalist. She graduated with a Master in Sport Management at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Coach Elena started race-walking when she was 9 years old, since then she is in love with this event and became an elite race-walker in Malaysia. She is eager to share all her race walking and long distance expertise and knowledge with all the athletes. Coach Elena also wishes to discover new talents for race-walking while encouraging youth to explore racewalking in the hope to bring up more quality racewalkers in Klang Valley. 



Coach Saara, with a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology, brings a wealth of expertise to our team. A former Selangor gymnast and accomplished CrossFit athlete, she achieved notable rankings as the 9th and 5th Malaysian fittest woman in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Coach Saara's primary objective is to assist our athletes in developing fundamental strength for optimal performance and injury prevention. Her dedication and knowledge make her an invaluable asset to our training program.



Meet Coach Yi Yin, a double gold medalist in the Heptathlon for two consecutive Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA). With her exceptional expertise and experience, Coach Yi Yin plays a vital role in our training program. She dedicates her time to assisting athletes in enhancing their overall fitness levels, guiding them from beginner to intermediate stages.

Coach Kabilan's determination to run a sub-11 second 100m sprint is not just a dream—he's made it a reality. His hard-earned achievement reflects his relentless pursuit of excellence. Coach Kabilan's role in our training program goes beyond his accomplishments on the track. With a keen understanding of athletes' needs, he patiently guides them towards their goals.
