Coaching Updates

We continue to strengthen our coaching team to support our growing athlete base. Our coaches are actively involved in session planning, athlete safety, and skill development to ensure quality training across all age groups.

New Coach Onboard

We’re happy to welcome Coach Julia to the Kawan Athletics coaching team.

Coach Julia is a government school teacher with 5 years of experience in youth athlete development, working mainly with children aged 7–15. She holds a World Athletics Level 1 certification and has a strong background in teaching fundamental movement skills, as well as throws events such as javelin and shot put. With her experience in school athletics and structured training, she brings a calm, caring, and disciplined approach to coaching.

Good News: Coaching Development

Congratulations to three of our coaches who have recently completed the World Athletics CECS Level 2 (Women’s) Coaches Course under the World Athletics Gender Leadership Programme (LeadHER).

This marks the first World Athletics Level 2 Women Coaches Course in Asia and Malaysia. This programme aims to increase female representation in high-level coaching, provide equal access to education and certification, and support women coaches in progressing within the athletics pathway.

We’re proud to share that our coaches received 3 out of the 5 awards presented during the programme:

🏅 Coach Elena — Best Student (Microcycle)

🏅 Coach KL — Best Student (Viva) & Best Student Overall

At Kawan Athletics, we support initiatives that develop coaches not only through technical knowledge, but also through opportunity, representation, and long-term growth. This achievement reflects our commitment to building a coaching team that continually learns and contributes positively to the sport.
