100m Blue Ribbon – A Sprint to Remember with Zaidatul Husniah

On the 13th of July, we hosted a special edition of the 100m Blue Ribbon competition. It wasn't just another race. It was a celebration of Malaysia's Sprint Queen, Zaidatul Husniah, who broke a 32-year-old national 100m record at the age of 31. What made it even more inspiring is that she did this after undergoing knee surgery in 2020. Some may call it a comeback. We see it as her journey continuing strong.
Zaidatul's presence lit up the event. During the Q&A, someone asked if she ever felt nervous before a race. She said she did. She’s not a robot and it wouldn’t be honest to say she wasn’t scared at times. When nerves kicked in, she would listen to music to help calm herself.
When asked what kept her going through all the challenges, she said it was her family, especially her dad. That moment showed how strong a role family support can play in helping athletes push through.
At her sharing session, she shared openly about her struggles, her fear, her injury, and what kept her going. It gave our athletes and parents something deeper to hold onto. A reminder that progress takes patience, and belief can take you far.
The Race and the Fun
TINY humans in action! U10s giving it their all on the track 💨
To keep things exciting, we ran a lucky draw where five participants walked away with training journals signed by Zaidatul — and one of them even won RM200 cash. During the break, athletes lined up for autographs. From shirts to spike shoes, Zaidatul signed them all.
For those who missed out on major meets like MSSD or MSSS, this was the perfect chance to race again. It was another opportunity to grow and gaining confidence.
Every participant went home with a medal and certificate as a token of their effort. The fastest athletes advanced to Final A, and the next group raced in Final B — no one went home eliminated. To top it off, our Final A gold medalists each got a special one-on-one Polaroid photo moment with Zaidatul Husniah.
A big thank you to Runnoz Sports for providing the electronic timing system. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. And to Zaidatul — thank you for showing up, sharing your story, and inspiring us all. Good luck in the upcoming SEA Games. Malaysia is cheering for you — and so is Kawan Athletics.
