From Trains to Luxury Buses: Our Journey to the Penang Open
Penang Open was our last outstation competition for those participating in MSSD in early August. Traveling to Penang on the luxurious Aeroline bus was a treat, and the food provided didn't disappoint! Everyone on the bus had their own little TV to watch movies and listen to music.
Which ride did you enjoy more? Train (ETS) or bus (Aeroline)?

Penang's weather was intensely HOT, even hotter than KL! The stay at the Airbnb equally impressive. The comfortable stay made it an excellent bonding experience. We enjoyed shared meals, movie nights, and a fun dance performance by our first-timers. Watching the Euro final together was the perfect way to wrap up our adventure.
Despite a minor reporting issue during the boys’ 100m final, we stayed focused and met our goals. Our team brought home three medals:
100m Women Open - Gold (Pei Yuan)
200m Women Open - Silver (Pei Yuan)
4x400m Women P15 - Bronze (Charmaine, Clarisse, Qatarina, & Loshana)
Girls POWEERR! Congratulations to all the winners!
Key Takeaways from the Penang Open
In the 4x400m P15, our team initially finished 5th, but the third and fourth teams were disqualified for receiving the baton before the exchange zone. This experience taught us two valuable lessons:
Understanding the Rules: In the 4x400m, just like in the 4x100m, there is a specific baton exchange zone. It's crucial to start running before receiving the baton to ensure the exchange happens within this zone.
Giving Your Best Effort: Even when the chances of winning seem slim, it's important to compete with full effort. Our girls knew their chances were low, but they still gave their all. If you run your best and don't win, you have nothing to lose. There is no shame in losing if you have tried your hardest because you have done everything within your power. But if you give a half-hearted effort, you miss the opportunity to perform well and potentially win. By not trying your hardest, you are missing out on the possibility of achieving a better performance or even winning.
As we prepare for the upcoming MSSD and Sukma Sarawak 2024, we’re ready to seize every opportunity. Coach Kj’s motto, “When opportunity comes, take it, grab it!” has never felt more fitting. Keep up the great work, team!
